This third-generation family business places a massive emphasis on its core values of honesty, integrity and respect.
Managing Director Kathryn Lukehurst spoke about the business: “We pride ourselves on offering excellent customer service and a great range of furniture and home interior products at value for money prices. We have a fantastic loyal team of 35 staff and over 50% have been with us for more than 12 years now. Retention of staff is important to us as I feel our experienced team are a selling point for our business as they offer outstanding customer service, providing expert help and advice when needed. Our soft furnishings staff include a skilled in-house team who produce custom made curtains, pelmets and blinds, along with co-ordinating accessories. They offer free measuring and estimating and a design service, as well as a fitting service. On the flooring side, we again offer a free measuring and estimating service, as well as uplifting and disposing of old carpets. We have an in-house delivery team which enables us to control the whole purchasing journey, helping us to maintain our high levels of service.”
Since Kathryn joined the business, she has focused on modernising the company in order to not only survive, but also grow the business in the changing market place, whilst maintaining the traditional aspects of their high-quality customer service. This has included a new retail sales management system to improve the efficiency of their sales management process, as well as embracing the Internet as a means to reach customers, especially utilising channels such as Google and Facebook. This had led to the business being able to cast a wider net for customers and now they are attracting orders from across the UK through their website.
When asked why she thought her business should be recognised at the 2019 Swale Business Awards, Kathryn replied: “We are a local third-generation family-run business who has invested in the area and provided ongoing local employment. We have adapted and moved with the times to ensure we continue to succeed, ready for the fourth-generation, whilst retaining our core values and offering excellent customer service and quality products at value for money prices.”
