In 2018, Burden Bros Agri was named the Sittingbourne Business of the Year. The business is once again throwing their ‘hat in the ring’ for contention for an award in 2019.
Burden Bros Agri is a group of three dealerships that cater for the needs of the agricultural and turf industries. An authorised dealer of John Deere equipment that also represents 17 other prominent brands within these industries, Burden Bros Agri delivers a full service to its clients from advice and guidance to equipment sales and aftercare support.
Led by Managing Director Michael Read, the business now has 95 employees. Michael strives to retain and develop his staff, through initiatives such as a Management Development Programme – a new 18-month internal course that is delivered by senior leaders within the company and aims to equip new managers with the necessary skills for people and resource management.
Michael elaborated on his commitment to developing his team: “At the centre of our core values is family; and teamwork and loyalty are key to this core value. New and existing team members can benefit from our mentoring scheme where trusted and respected mentors within the business use their experiences to offer guidance and support. We feel there is no better way in engaging with our team and uniting them than by hosting social events every quarter. This year so far team members have enjoyed clay pigeon shooting and a day at the races.”
