Tribeca Technology Group

For over a decade, Tribeca Technology Group has managed IT support for businesses with up to 300 users. The Sittingbourne-based technology business offers numerous services, including Cyber Security, Disaster Recovery, Network Design and Software.

Tribeca Technology Group is a business that prides itself on its ability to keep its customers’ data safe. Marketing Manager Robert Blake discussed the challenges facing Tribeca over the last twelve months: “2017 was an intense year for crypto viruses. 90% of the attacks were delivered in the form of email and attachment packages. It is estimated that cyber crimes are costing the UK over £190bn a year. Our clients experience continuous pressure from stakeholders to ensure that their systems include high performance defence against advanced threats. To tackle these challenges we deployed user training, highlighting the correct approach and precautions to take. We try to pre-empt future problems by ensuring that our employees are trained to the highest level. We have an in-house training manager and a dedicated training room with five computers and ten screens. All our engineers have at least four years experience and receive regular vocational training.”

The business thrives by employing the right staff for the job and has a successful apprenticeship scheme with Mid-Kent College, which has been running since 2011. Robert discussed attracting and retaining staff: “We currently have five apprentices: four on our Network Helpdesk and one in our Accounts department. We work hard to foster a welcoming and inclusive environment for our team. Every week we have fresh food delivered to our offices and during the summer we have weekly barbecues. Each member of the team has a £2000 training budget allocated to them and we hold regular team building days, including activities such as go-karting, quad biking and Segway riding. We also have a weekly football game, for both male and female members of staff.”

With the business going from strength-to-strength the team have some ambitious but realistic objectives for the next three years. This includes increasing staff levels from the current 45 employees to 100 – including the expansion of the Tribeca Apprenticeship Programme.

When asked why he felt that Tribeca Technology Group should be recognised at the 2018 Swale Business Awards Robert replied: “Tribeca is a knowledge based business powered by excellence, expertise and dedication. Our network helpdesk answers calls within 6 seconds and resolves over 90% of issues remotely. We have over 11,000 system monitors in place to keep track of our clients’ system resources around the clock. If there is a problem on our clients' networks, we will know about it before our clients does and we fix the issue before it impacts their business. Much hard work has gone into building the business and there is a high level of camaraderie to be found at Tribeca.”
