From it’s home on St George’s Business Park, Farmwood provide mechanical and electrical installations, maintenance and repairs, specialising in ventilation and air quality for individual homeowners through to multinational corporations. Now in its sixteenth year of trading, Farmwood employs almost thirty members of staff.
Managing Director Nathan Wood attributes Farmwood’s success to a number of factors. Firstly, they have an extremely high customer retention rate. “We are fortunate to have retained many long-term valued customers. We take great pride in having grown our business with virtually all of them. We aim to continue to provide them with excellent service. In recent years, we have expanded our customer base to include several market-leading, national companies as their exclusive service partner.”
Secondly, Farmwood pride themselves on building the right team. They recently recruited six new team members, and have ongoing training programmes for all engineers and apprentices. Farmwood have recently become an NICEIC ventilation recognised training provider, allowing them to deliver in-house developmental programmes both for their own people and for others.
Thirdly, the business has developed a sterling reputation within their industry. Nathan explained: “Our primary objective for the next two-to-three years is to make the step change from small, family run business to an industry leader, working in partnership with major market-leading national companies and trade associations. We aim to preserve our reputation and culture throughout this journey.”
Finally, Nathan spoke about why he felt that 2018 was the year for Farmwood to be named the Swale Business of the Year: “I feel that our recent development into the air quality market, partnering with only the best in this area of expertise, sets us apart from the competition. We continue to seek out new technologies and further develop the knowledge of our growing team.”
