For six years now, Bluebird Care (Swale) has been helping people of all ages by providing the full spectrum of care services; from assistance with specific daily tasks (such as preparing meals and assisting with personal hygiene), to the provision of complete 'Live in' arrangements where staff provide around the clock care to those with the greatest needs.
The franchise business is part of the nationally recognised and accredited Bluebird Care group, which is one of Britain's foremost care providers. Headed up by Charmaine Grech, Bluebird Care (Swale) has 45 employees providing services throughout Sittingbourne, Sheerness, Teynham, Faversham, Newington and the surrounding areas.
Charmaine discussed the challenges that her business had faced over the last twelve months: “The Care Sector has been affected by the ever fluctuating economy and the additional constraints that have been placed on most families. One of our challenges has been to help people understand that the provision of a reasonable standard of living with home care assistance is not only desirable but a necessity and can be achieved within reasonable budget constraints. The variety and flexibility of the care packages that we offer suits each individual customer's needs, and every individual’s financial circumstances, ranging from single 15 minute visits to full 24 hour care – all delivered to all without compromising the high standards that we set ourselves.”
Another huge challenge facing the Care Sector is staff attraction and retention, something that is even more difficult for Bluebird Care (Swale) as they have an extremely rigerous vetting process. Their benchmark to only employ those that pass their stringent standards mean that they feel their staff are of the highest quality – but it restricts their own market for potential emloyees.
Charmaine discussed she felt that Bluebird Care (Swale) should be recognised at the 2018 Swale Business Awards: “'Care is not only the sector name for the area within which we operate but the benchmark standard against which we measure our service and high standards we set ourselves. All of our care plans are tailor-made and unique to each of our customer’s individual needs which sets our service aside from other providers In this sector who only provide 'one size fits all' package. We recognise that customer satisfaction is vital for the success of our business and our business is thriving largely through recommendations made by existing satisfied customers and is a major source of referrals for new work.”
