AngelsLocks have had a great run when it comes to the Swale Business Awards. In 2016, AngelsLocks were named the first ever Sheppey Business of the Year Award and in 2017, Director Angela Croall picked up the title of Entrepreneur of the Year. Not one to rest on her laurels, Angela has entered AngelsLocks into the awards again for 2018.
“Our business sells hair extensions and training courses,” Angela explains. “Our customers are a range of qualified professionals as we only allow qualified hair extension technicians or qualified hair stylists who have undergone training with us to purchase our products or engage in our training courses. Our range of customers is diverse as we have those who operate mobile businesses, hair salons, chains of salons plus stylists working on a self employed basis within a salon environment.”
The business has grown phenomenally over the past five years since they began trading. Over the last twelve months, Angela has invested in systems to make the day-to-day running of the business smoother. She has also invested in professional support to help her push the business to new heights, as well as a new website – which has seen online enquiries more than double since it went live.
Another big change within the business was that Angela had her courses professional accredited. She explained: “Although it was not a legal requirement, we wanted to get accredited to strengthen the brand reputation. Being accredited demonstrates that we have teaching qualifications, certification in the methods we teach, insurance plus all of our lesson plans and course content has been vetted by an official training accreditation board to say that our courses have passed their accreditation criteria. This has resulted in an increase to our courses booked.”
Finally, Angela discussed why she felt that her business would be successful again at the 2018 awards: “We have seen an opportunity within the extensions industry and have consistently worked hard to offer a company that is successful whilst at the same time looks at the best interests of our customers, staff and the business. Every day is a new learning curve and to feel that we are also assisting others along the way is extremely satisfying.”
