Entering the Swale Business Awards for the first time in 2017 is Sunnyhill Glamping, a “glamping” site based in Borden. Glamping is a portmanteau meaning “glamour camping” and allows people to experience the fun of camping but with an added element of luxury!
Sarah Smith started the business three years ago, and has been working to differentiate Sunnyhill Glamping from other campsites. She said: “I definitely feel that our location and personal customer service, together with our quirky and nostalgic facilities stands us apart from any competitors.”
Quirky and nostalgic are definitely the right words to describe the site, which aims to provide guests with the experience of “sleeping under canvas but with hotel facilities". These facilities include canvas bell tents, watering can showerheads, whisky barrel sinks and vintage WWI wagons. For children there is also an oak swing, traditional games and plenty of space for kids to make their secret dens.
When asked why she felt that Sunnyhil Glamping should be recognised at the Swale Business Awards Sarah commented: “We set out to be the best small campsite in Kent and we feel with the excellent unsolicited glowing reviews we receive, the continued growth and the significant repeat business we are well on our way to achieving this and hope these positive trends are enough to be successful. Our business helps portray Swale in a very positive way and of course our guests use the services and products of other small businesses in the Swale area adding to their success too.”
