Operating in Sheerness since 2004, Ginger Hair Design provides a variety of hair and beauty treatments to the people of Swale. Salon Owner April Norton has developed her eight-person team so that they can offer everything including massages, waxing, cut and blow-drys, colouring, fake tans, eyelash extensions, manicures and pedicures, to both male and female clientele. They are also the only Salon in Sheppey offering the full HDBrows range.
April discussed Ginger Hair Design’s approach to their customers, “We cater for all ages and genders and want everyone to feel welcome and relaxed. We have a number of different stylists in order to cater for different markets, ensuring everyone gets exactly what they want. For example, we have a high-fashion stylist whom is popular with our younger clientele, and we have a more mature stylist that a lot of our older customers feel more comfortable with. Ultimately, we aim to give all customers, whoever they are, access to a calm and luxurious treatment, which is why we offer a 100% satisfaction guarantee.”
One of the fastest-growing areas of the business is the beauty treatment side of the Salon, which has been steadily increasing in popularity over the past year. April’s focus has been offering this diversification to increase customer retention, as each customer has access to a greater selection of treatments. She also places tremendous emphasis on training – fostering a productive environment of collaboration and teamwork amongst her staff. All of this seems to be working, as two of her stylists made it through to the finals in the “Stylist of the Year” category for both the “English Hair and Beauty” and the “British Hair and Beauty” awards. Ginger Hair Design also won in the “British Hair and Beauty” award for “Best Customer Experience”.
When it comes to the Swale Business Awards, April spoke about why she felt Ginger Hair Design should be recognised in 2016: “We strive to provide the best possible experience for both our customers and our employees. It is so important to us that we have staff that love to work for us and that we can help to grow. We encourage the younger members to join us through our apprenticeship programme and it is great to see someone learn and become a fantastic stylist/beautician over time. This all comes down to offering a family feeling yet professional atmosphere for our clients when they enter our salon.
