Firm Ground

With property in high demand across the South East, Firm Ground is a family-run property development business founded with the goal of helping reduce the housing shortages in the South East. A local business with a wide reach, the Swale-based company builds new homes in Swale itself, and across the South East.

Director Bruce Bell commented on the two main types of customer the business was servicing: “Firm Ground develops both affordable houses, to help the younger generation get onto the ladder, along with larger properties for families and discerning owners, who want traditionally built, quality homes.”

Orchard Court, Lynsted was Firm Ground’s first major project, which started in January 2015 and is now nearing completion. Orchard Court is a development of eight quality family houses, the first four of which have already been sold. The firm has a strategic plan in place to develop further properties in both Swale and South East London, including turning an old retail building, in Sittingbourne, into 16 luxury apartments.

Firm Ground is founded on the principle that ‘if you control, you grow’; meaning the team control all elements of the development process, including implementing a philosophy of collaborative supplier teamwork and focusing on always delivering attentive customer service whilst ensuring customers always receive true value for money.

When asked why he thought that Firm Ground was a strong contender for the 2016 Swale Business Awards, Bruce said: “Firm Ground aims to be different. Although in property development terms we are small, we have the ingrained ambition to develop and deliver quality affordable housing throughout the borough and beyond. We want to be recognised for our creative approach to property development, where we embrace traditional quality and apply a contemporary twist to our work. We listen to the needs of our customers and develop solutions that satisfy. Although the business is young – we are experienced, – determined to succeed and have always delivered.”
