Big Jam Studios in Sittingbourne have spent the last five years bringing high-tech music and video production to Swale.
Proving that you can be the master of several trades, Director Kevin Thorpe has steered the business into six different and equally exciting areas: Music Production, Music Video Production, Photography, Corporate Video Production, “Pop Star Parties” and a Record Label.
Kevin discussed the different aspects of his business “We offer music recording and production services for singers and musicians of all ability. Whether you’re an amateur singer looking to record a cover song or a budding star needing a full backing track written and produced for your next hit song; Big Jam can create a superb sounding recording to be proud of. This year we were the only studio in Kent to have ITV’s ‘The X Factor’ visit us for closed auditions. We can also create a fantastic looking video aimed to perform on YouTube, which is now the biggest platform for aspiring musicians.
“We have combined all of our skills to offer a very exciting ‘Pop Star Party’. This is for groups of up to six people where a song is recorded, a disco themed photo-shoot is carried out and a music video is produced all in a three-to-four hour experience where all guests receive a printed DVD. On the corporate side we specialise in video for small to medium businesses creating engaging content at affordable rates. Whether its a series of Vlogs, a website homepage video or an animated logo, we combine our audio and visual skills to offer a superb looking product.”
Business has flourished for Big Jam Studios over the last year, partly due to utilising very different marketing techniques for the varying aspects of the business. Social Media has been a big factor, as has championing services such as Groupon to push the Pop Star Parties offering. This has led to multiple referrals, largely due to Big Jam’s outstanding approval rating from parents.
Big Jam Studios are also helping to put Swale on the entertainment map. As Big Jam run a record label with distribution services and also run events, they are finding that a lot of their original music is now gaining airplay around the world. In fact, you may even see one of Big Jam’s tracks in the charts over the next 12 months!
