It only opened its doors 14 months ago, but William Whitmey Independent Funeral Directors has already seen business increase by 75% in the first two months of it’s second year of trading.
Director, Alex Whitmey said: ” Breaking into a market where family trust has been built up with other businesses over the years is the biggest obstacle. It is important therefore the ensure that every funeral we undertake is done at the highest possible standards so that word of mouth will follow. Traditionally, families follow their ancestors path and use the same funeral directors, time and time again.”
“In today’s climate where money is as important to people as tradition, being competitive in the market place is key to reaching families who might otherwise not give consideration to a change in family trend.”
“The aims and objectives for the business over the next three years is to increase public awareness of William Whitmey Independent Funeral Directors so that it becomes a household name in the Swale, Medway and Thanet areas, thus increasing our business prospect and opportunities.”
Based at 122a Chalkwell Road, Sittingbourne, the independent company is able to assist people with all funeral requests from the supply of bespoke coffins to different modes of transport such as a horse and carriage.
It offers pre-paid funeral plans and ancillary services, floral tributes, headstones and memorials, announcements, musicians, dove release, printed order of service, catering and venues as well as celebrant and religious services.
Two full time and five part-time employees work at the premises, which has a reception area, funeral arranging room, fully-equipped modern mortuary and a private chapel of rest.
Mr. Whitmey added: “We believe a personal, tailored and dignified service is important and we provide this with our dedicated team because we know and appreciate the local community in which we serve.”
